FISH HATCHERY
FISH HATCHERY
We went to the fish
hatchery, near the Expo Hill and just a few minute from 13th College.
At that place, we learn how the fish being processed into pekasam and gain a lot of knowledge about the fish processing
procedure.
The table below are the
percentage of each ingredients needed to make pekasam.

Then, there are about 11 steps for the fish processing procedure to make pekasam. All of the steps are divided into 4 types, which are fish, ripened 1, ripened 2 and pekasam.
Firstly, we must catch the
freshwater fish from the pond using either trawl, catch by our own hand or by
using the fish catching tools .Then, we must reeds and clean the fish with 0.5
% of tamarind. After that, we need to weigh the fish and mix it with 15% of
salt.
Secondly, for the Ripened 1
procedure, we must ripen the fish for 2 or 3 days before we can remove the salt
on the fish by clean it with water. Then, we need to drain the water that have
on the fish. The fish were being stirred with 25% of grind fried rice. Next, we
mixed the fish with 1.5% of brown sugar before we added a few tamarind (asam
keping).
Last but not least, for the
second ripened process, the fish needed to be kept for about 14 days. Finally,
the pekasam were finished and we can
weigh it 250 gram for packaging before they sell it either inside or outside
UPM with the price RM 5.
AGRICULTURE PRACTICAL ..................
Vegetable
unit
On
the 13th of October, our class had our agriculture practical at the
vegetable unit. The aim was to learn the processes involved before the
vegetables are ready to be sold at shops.
Upon arriving at the vegetable unit,
located near to the Kolej Pendeta Zaabah, we were first given a short talk by
our amazing lecturer, Dr Zakaria. Then, we proceed with the practical.
The instructors, first brief us on the
practical for the day. We were divided into groups. Each group has different
task. Some were harvesting Chilies, and others were Terung, Asparagus and
Salad. After the vegetables were harvested, they are cleaned. The salad were
soaked in cold water, which is a process called pre-cooling. It keeps the
freshness of the vegetables by stopping the respiration and metabolic processes
in the plant.
After it cleaned, it is graded and
weight. The vegetables must pass the quality check before it can be packaged.
After it pass the quality check, it is weight and put into plastic package
before it is sealed.
After it is packaged, it will be stored
in a dry and cool place to avoid spoilage and insects from destroying the
vegetables. It is now ready to be sold at stores as quality vegetables.

MUSIC
HARRIS J. : POP MUSIC MEETS ISLAM
I love music too. Today, I want to share
about my favourite singer, Harris J. The 18 --year-old British singer scored a
deal with Awakening Records, UK company specializing in Islamic music, after
winning a social media talent contest the label ran in 2013.
Along the way, Harris J decided to step away
of mainstream success to create music that expresses his Islamic faith. He says
he is also using music as a tool to battle misrepresentations of that faith.
Harris J’s debut album, Salam ( Arabic for ‘peace’ ) was released last month, and its
single ‘Assalamu Alaikum ‘ has reached more than 3 millions views on YouTube.
He spoke with weekends on All Things
Considered about his journey, hear the conversation at the audio link.
Interview Highlights
On turning away from
mainstream pop
‘ I just wanted to do music
that wasn’t necessarily speaking about drugs and stuff like that, but speaking
about things that are morally sound and things that people can get benefit from
in their day-to-day-life. I’ve always wanted to make a change within music that
people , most teenagers, listen to nowadays.’
On what Islam means to him
‘It’s
something that I follow day to day in my life . I pray fives times a day.
Everyone knows Islam can be portrayed as a religion that it’s not. It’s a
religion purely and entirely about peace. Whenever I’m in trouble, when I have
something to worry about I turn to my religion. It’s a source of comfort for
me. It’s a very important factor im my life’
On
what message he wants his music to bring listeners
‘My
message to the world is purely just t show the true hidden idealisms and
beliefs of our religion. I’m trying to show them it’s not what they see every
day on the news. It’s religion of peace and love . I want to make a positive
difference.’

I am a sportman..i love to play badminton, squash, baseball and softball. This sports are interesting..As you know, sports help to improved physical health, and plays a primarily positive role in youth development. My father is the one who taught me to play badminton when i was 7 years old At that time my height was as same as the racket . Eventhough i don't know how to play it, it's okay...but now i can beat him in badminton...I play squash when i was 10 years old...My brother, abhar a.k.a baha wants me to play squash with him..We entered so many tournament and i don't win any tournament..HAHAHAHA!!! But, my brother won two tournaments..i am glad to see him at the podium..The thing i want is to spend time with my family..It was very fun to spend time with them when they are not busy yet..Now, everbody have their own works to do...Last month, i entered baseball and softball in UPM..luckily, i was choosen in the UPM baseball selection..For baseball, my team lost in quarter final. It's okay.But...my softball's team won in a Intercollege tournament..We won against K2. I was able to play at final. It was an unforgettable experience for me.
There are many benefits of sports.Sport provides opportunities for children and youth to engage in valuable and positive relationships with adults, which is especially important when such benefits are not available at home. Thus,it is a missed opportunity for children who are 'gated' or not included in sport during early stages of childhood because they are less well behaved than other children. These children are being preventrd from participating in very thing that could help them learn to control and regulate their behavior. Sport provides an opportunity for children to safely navigate and negotiate between right and wrong as they learn to interact with peers and adults. Research by Taliaferro et al.suggests that playing sport can even protect against suicide risk in youth. Compared to non athletes, male athletes exhibit lower levels of hopelessness and suicidal ideation. Young males involved in multiple sports semm to garner even more protection in this regard. Similar results were found for girls. Research on the role of exercise in adults confirms that it improves mood and alleviates many forms of depression. Bartko and Eccles found that youth who are highly involved insport are more 'phychologically resilieent,' that is better able recover from problems.Eccles et al. found taht sport participating protects young athletes against social isolation.
Despite the perception that sport has a relatively soft influence on youth, adults recognize many positive benefits of sport to society . Four out of five adults agree that sport provides a source of fun and enjoyment and can reduce youth crime and delinquency and that losing in sport can teach valuable life lessons. However, almost two-thirds of adults also agree that sport overemphasizes the importance of winning, a belief most stongly felt by order adults (ages 45 to 65) who are significantly more likely than adults overall to agree that sport overemphasizes winning.
